Hey everyone!  :D  Sorry I am slow to reply right now.  I had some internet issues for most of the week, they're finally fixed.  Now DA is bugging out on me pretty badly.  :stare:  If you want to keep up with me I'm more active on Facebook and Tumblr.  Mainly because they are easier to update.  I'm not sure why DA is having so many issues for me.  I've not heard anyone else complain about it so maybe my computer has decided to be a special snowflake.  It already did that earlier this week with the new home network.  I suppose it hasn't gotten it out of it's system.  To top that off I've had a bit of a mess on my hands with scheduling my yearly MRI.  The MRI itself stresses me out a lot as is without the other issues that were going on.  It's sorted out now and it got pushed back a few weeks.  So that's another reason I've been flying under the radar.

I have a fairly ambitious digital painting going right now.  I've not been posting WIPs because I've decided I wanted DA to be a gallery for my finished, best, and favorite works.  I post my WIPs on facebook because I am painfully lazy about uploading things to tumblr. =P  Plus I have a filter worked out for what I post where.

:bulletpink:Facebook- nearly everything is posted (including WIPs)
:bulletblue:Tumblr- favorite works
:bulletgreen:Deviantart- favorite and best works

So you can choose where you want to keep up with my art based upon that.  I am most active on facebook because it's the easiest to update.

I wanted to tell all my watchers thank you!  You guys really encourage me and it is most appreciated.  Hope you are all doing well!

I'm sorry I'm so lazy about uploading things here.  I really need to get caught up.  I like to try to thank people for favorites but it gets to be too much to keep up with so I space out my uploads by quite a bit.  Also because I am on too many social sites between my art and jewelry business.  :omg:  I need a system.  Anyone have any experience with this or thoughts to offer?  :B

I have been working on a digital art piece off and on between everything else.  I'm actually really proud of it and I think I will upload a WIP of it here shortly so you guys can see what I've been up to!

And in random news...

I got a bunch of resin making supplies and played around with that today.  It was a massive mess but fun.  I actually managed to get all the bubbles out!  I can't wait until it's all cured so I can get the pieces out and get a good look at the finished product!  My bday is coming up and I'm getting archery stuff for it and I'm pretty excited about finally fulfilling my childhood dream of becoming Robin Hood. :dummy:  Kidding.  or am I?
I haven't done all the research yet so it will be belated.  =P  I'm just really excited about it.  Also it will be good for my posture and core strength.  Downside, the backyard is small and the houses are close together so I am not allowed to practice in the backyard.  I can't believe anyone would think I pose a danger to anyone!  :giggle:

Well, that's been what's going on with me.  How is everyone else doing?  :iconcocowaveplz:

Yes, I'm back for real!  :D

I finally got my website done and I'm freaking proud of it.  Here it is (if you're curious).  thegildedbutterfly.com/
I'm not a programmer or web designer so that makes me especially proud of this.  I can do some very basic html and css tweaks and that's about it.  Plus I enjoy webdesign (the technical part that is) about as much as I enjoy math.  So, this is a big deal to me.  :D

EDIT Forgot to add this!  I recently revamped my art tumblr!  Check it out if you're interested!  :D  catlickfeverart.tumblr.com/

I'm branching out more and more into photography and digital painting and I'm loving it.  I really enjoy the freedom it gives me.  Don't get me wrong.. I really loved photomanipulation but it made me feel restricted in some ways.  I have things in my head that won't translate properly unless I can do it from scratch.  Plus, I've really really really missed illustration and it's my first love.  I sort of gave up on art for a couple years after I finished treatment.  I was worried the nerve damage meant I wouldn't be able to draw again.  While the majority of the damage was to my back and legs there was a bit to my hands and arms.  And I'm sure anyone here can attest to how important even the nuances of your musculature are to art making.  Basically I let my fear I wouldn't be able to draw again overcome my desire to draw.  One day the scales tipped the other way and I realized how not making art was eating away at me.  So one day I picked up a pencil and realized I could draw just as well as before and I quickly surpassed the quality of my old works.

I'm finally getting everything ironed out.  I'm really excited about it.  I finally feel competent and in charge of things.  It's a great feeling.  I just came to realize I could let my health issues run my life or I could work around them as much as possible and still have a full life.  It's different than the average Joe's life but that doesn't make it any less important.  Sometimes I think having the challenges makes the victory that much sweeter.  Today is definitely one of those days I feel that way.

I don't have to let the brokenness of my body dictate how I feel about myself and my life.  I feel like I've grown a lot this year.  And my deepest hope is that I never stop growing and learning.

I've had difficulty keeping up with stuff here.  I don't log on all that often due the overwhelming numbers of things in my inbox.  :(  I have a lot going on and am really pushing myself hard to get things done.  I've been trying to get my website in order.  Almost had it done then ran into an issue of my template being out of date with joomla, which is frustrating to say the least.  SO.. that's been nothing but a mess but I think I've about got it nailed down.

Been very busy with getting my business in order as well.  Then all the holiday stuff going on.  A lot of craziness.  The business stuff is ironed out more than it was previously.  So much has been trial and error and it's been really frustrating.  I'm very impatient to get things going.  =P  I've neglected a lot of things because I was overwhelmed.  I figured out how to fix some of that.  As for deviantart I probably won't thank everyone individually for favorites.  It's getting to the point of when I post stuff it's really time consuming to thank so many people.  I really genuinely appreciate it from the bottom of my heart that so many people like my art.  It means a lot to me.  All the love and support I get encourage me to keep at it and not give up when I get frustrated.  I've also parred down my watchlist a lot.  I'm now just watching people I have some kind of relationship with and stockers I like.  It's just too much to keep up with otherwise.  Even though I won't be able to keep up with thanking for favorites all the time I will continue to reply to comments for sure.

I'm going to hopefully get new pictures up here soon.  I've not really gotten much time to draw because it's been occupied with doing things I need to do right now.  I do, however, have a large backlog of pictures to put up on deviantart.  I hope everyone is doing well.

Want to keep up with me on facebook?  I'm a lot more active there.  Mainly cause I don't want to spam and I've been a little swamped with various things in my life right now and facebook is easier to keep up with.  Facebook- www.facebook.com/catlickfevera…

Just very tired lately.  Had a falling out with a friend and things got pretty messy.  But now I'm getting my feet back on the ground and moving on.  Then there's trying to figure out what to do next on furthering my art.  Part of the struggle is finding a class that's cheap enough and short enough for me to be able to go to.  I know that people would be willing to make exceptions because of my spine issues but I don't like to draw attention to it or seem like I'm being a drama queen.  I guess I'm being prideful.    Need to work on that.  haha

ATTENTION ARTISAN CRAFTERS!!!

Journal Entry: Wed May 30, 2012, 3:49 PM
I'd really love to feature some handmade crafts.  In particular promote ones people are trying to sell.  Only rules are it has to be handmade.  Leave a thumb or a link, either is fine, and when I get enough I'll do a feature.  Leave up to four thumbs.  Anyone can leave thumbs/links whether you're a watcher or not!

I'd like to try to do my part and help out my fellow crafters.

Had A Family Crisis

Journal Entry: Sun May 6, 2012, 7:31 PM
I've been awol for a long time.  Initially it was because I'm getting serious about my business.  I've faced facts that I'm not going to get better.  I feel like I've had my head in the sand about my stamina issues and chronic pain.  It's not going to go away, barring an insanely great medical advancement or a miracle.  I'm not strong enough to go to school or get a job so it's time to face it and realize my business is my best bet at making a living.

On friday my Gramma passed away.  My mom has been hospitalized (now out) with broken heart syndrome.  It's basically what it sounds like.  Extreme emotional stress can cause a physiologic change in the shape of the heart.  The doctor said it should return to normal in time.  This is good news because initially they thought it was a heart attack and there is no chance of a full recovery from that.  My mom is out of town right now.  My dad has gone to be with her until they come home on wednesday.  Please keep my family and myself in your thoughts and prayers right now.  God has given me peace that my mom will recover and I believe that whole heartedly.

Right now, I'm throwing myself into my business stuff and keep busy.  I'm going to upload some of my new stuff here soon.  I'm not doing as much photomanipulation because at the present I need to focus on making things I can sell outright.  But I will return to manips after I get more works built up for the business stuff.

If I am slow to reply this is why.  I've been taking care of a lot of the stuff my mom usually does so I don't have a lot of free time between business stuff and that.  I don't mind putting this aside for my mom because she did the same for me when I was sick.  She took care of me all the time and now it's my turn to make sure she is taken care of and she recovers as quickly as possible.

If you want to stay more up to date with the new art stuff I'm doing I have a page for it on facebook www.facebook.com/catlickfevera…

And this is the page for my jewelry business www.facebook.com/thegildedbutt…

Thank you for any prayers/support.  It is most appreciated right now.

Standing in my front garden,
Yelling at me to open the door,
But all it does is make my will harden,
Just like you did when she played the whore.
And it's turning inside out,
So I can see you're spineless for real,
Just shut up there's no need to shout,
Because my hearing still isn't too numb to feel.
The path we're walking seems to be a maze,
But I haven't felt this lost in days...
Oh what's my name again?
It's all the same again,
Just like it turned out before.
What's the point in this?
You're not that hard to miss,
But I swear I've said all this before...
So it turns out that we started off wrong,
In that we shouldn't have started at all,
But how the hell did this keep up for so long?
And how did the big feelings I once had turn out to be so small?
The path we're walking seems to be a maze,
But I haven't felt this lost in days...
Oh what's my name again?
It's all the same again,
Just like it turned out before.

Sometimes it rains outside my window,
And the water changes my view,
But I don't think there's anything,
That could change how I see you.
Oh and even when the sun is shining,
And the light gets in my eyes,
I see the way you look at me,
And any doubt in you dies.
Yes the whole world,
The whole world,
Doesn't have a clue,
Doesn't know what I'd do for you.
Yeah the whole world,
The whole world,
Gets too much in a day,
So won't you come and take me away?
I think it would take a storm,
Or some kind of hurricane,
Before I thought of you badly,
Or imagined you causing me pain.
Yes the whole world,
The whole world,
Doesn't have a clue,
Doesn't know what I'd do for you.
Yeah the whole world,
The whole world,
Gets too much in a day,
So won't you come and take me away?
Oh nobody in the universe,
Makes me smile like you do,
And nobody in the universe,
Could come between us two.

The heart:
A futile instrument,
Open to change,
Vunerable to pain.
A most curious implement,
Completely strange,
Has control of the brain.
My heart:
Not my most favourite of things,
But by no means the least,
Though many like it broken.
I enjoy most of what it brings,
A most curious beast,
But its word is law once spoken.
Your heart:
Will remain ever a mystery,
Locked away in you chest,
And sealed off in your eyes.
But I must know your history,
The hurt and the rest,
So perhaps we could compromise.
The heart:
Will only let in whom it trusts,
And such loyalty is only earned;
Not bought with diamond rings.
Will choose passion over 'buts',
Will never shy away once burned,
The heart, one of life's most wonderful things.
Regret MeRegret Me
You're so unlucky,
To have ever wished me well,
And I'm not sorry,
That I played your 'Kiss And Tell'.
But it's not right,
Though that doesn't make me wrong,
And I'm not worried,
Because I won't be here for long.
I guess life's not fair,
You go from the sky to the floor,
And I'm not either,
So you should quit asking for more.
Nobody's perfect,
So does that make me Nobody?
Because you make it,
Out like I'm Omega you see...
Oh I hate to say I told you so,
But I guess I was the first to know,
That you would regret me.
And I know it isn't the right thing,
To say you meant nothing,
Because I know you won't forget me,
You'll regret me,
They always do.
So spin your wheel,
And hope it lands on freedom,
Because I want out,
I don't care for your broken kingdom.
Go drink your sorrow,
Right out of an empty glass,
And before you know it,
You'll forget you even asked...
Oh I hate to say I told you so,
But I guess I was the first to know,
That you would regret me.

Some of you may have noticed that I have jewelry in my gallery now.  :)

I've been making jewelry for about eleven years now and started a business with it a while back.  It's small so I'm hoping I can spread the word via my deviantart page.  :)  I've already had several faves shortly after putting them up and I appreciate them so much!

StorytellerTo me a child once said,
‘I wonder why at night
the forest dances with little lights,’
as she gazed from
My cottage window
into the green depths
of the forest twilight.
‘Come, my child,
come sit before me
and I shall tell you
of the realms
outside our own.’
I said in reply.
In my cottage,
where the air was infused
with the scent of herbs
hanging from the rafters above,
the child settled at my feet
and my strange story
did I begin to tell.
‘Deep in the forest
lives a race
so small in stature
that they can barely be seen.
Among the flowers
they flit and play
on wings with color splayed.
Flowers are their beds
when they close for the night.
In the perpetual twilight
these faeries dance
their wings shimmering
as bright as any lanterns light.
Yet this race is not alone
in calling the forest their home.
Cloaked in white
with ears made sharp
in form and strength,
this race protects
those whose longevity
they share.

bell carolHurry through the frozen streets; have to get the shopping done
DING!
Almost midnight, time to go, time for presents for the young
DONG!
Time to show you really care, time to bring them joy
DING!
Time to stuff the stockings full, time for every girl and boy
DONG!
It's Christmas Eve, it's Christmas Eve, the time is almost here
DING!
Listen to the Christmas carols, a pleasure to the ear
DONG!
Up ahead up in the sky, what is that silhouette?
DING!
Could it be true, the legend real, the elf dressed all in red?
DONG!
His sleigh filled high with gifts and toys, about to overflow
DING!
He drops his gifts down chimneys bare of joy or cheer or snow
DONG!
Bringing joy to all he meets, the jolly elf so bright
DING!
The shoppers lift their faces high in wonder and delight
DONG!
And as we strain to hear his voice, the ne'er forgotten phrase
We see the jolly elf alight with joy in his round face
"Merry Christmas To All, And To All A Good Night!"

self portraitRunning through life, time's running out my final revengeThe Final Battle
Turn, duck, leap, lunge, stab-twist to avoid his blade-and follow through. Finally, the shell of the man's body collapses in a heap before me. I glance around at the enemy, who are obviously shocked that I have managed to kill their greatest warrior. Even if it did take me an hour to land a single blow, this victory was far easier than some I have fought.
Let me introduce myself. I am Achilles, greatest warrior of any age and place, and I am fighting for my life in the pits of the hell that that coward Paris consigned me to. The exit from this hole is miles the cell I was chained in. fortunately, the chains were old. When the first of the demons who were assigned to guard me came to investigate the noise, I strangled him with the same chains he had used to torture me. After stealing his sword, I waited for more demons to come. Millions upon millions came and pitted their blade against mine, but none had the courage or the fighting prowess to even put a scratch on my ar

The BoyThe boy
With a slow pull, as if he relishes the experience, the boy slices cleanly into his upper arm. As he ruminates about the wreck his life has become, he silently ticks off another notch in the blood of his mental calendar. The boy has sliced open the scar perhaps a million times, fearing detection if he dares open up another wound. The wound may be on his shoulder, or perhaps his leg or his foot, or even perhaps his hand  He thinks slowly, and realize that he can not remember a day in the last year where the old wound had been fully healed. Quietly, he tapes the bandage back onto his bicep and tugs his shirt over the incriminating mark. Perfectly disguised to resemble any other cheery, bubbly high school student, the boy scrambles into his class just before the bell rings. Perhaps he has been talking to a girl who he has no chance of ever becoming more than friends with, or joking with some pals whom he will forget the moment he leaves his school. Carol of the 12I use to love the sound of bells
-let the count down begin-
They reminded me of you
-bell sings once-
And for that one reason
-bell sings twice-
I loved them
-bell sings a third-
And
-bell sings a forth toll-
Of corse
-with a fifth bell in chase-
I loved you
-the bell sings sixth-
But you see
-seventh next in line-
I have come to hate that sound
-the eighth bell sings-
Maybe I wouldn't
-the ninth will sing tell it dies-
If you hadn't left when you did
When the clock struck twelve
-the tenth bell whispered-
Ding
Dong
Ding
Dong
When will you come home?
Ding
Dong
Ding
Dong
What did I do wrong?
Ding
Dong
Ding
Dong
I'll wait for you my love
-the eleventh bell cried-
With a loaded gun
-the twelfth bell went insane-
-and laughed tell it died-

I got an early birthday present!  :boogie:

My mom got an email for a couple hundred bucks off CS5 from amazon.com so my parents got that for me for my bday!  It got here today and I was allowed to use it.  lol

I feel like I'm in over my head with it.  :(  I know I'll catch on eventually but ughhh.. I hate learning new technology with a passion but this is important to me so I will.

I have to run it on the desktop upstairs because my laptop is woefully lacking in memory space.  So that poses another problem of having to sit up for long periods to figure it out.  I finally had to call it quits for the night because I was hurting so badly.  My pain levels have been monstrous for the past few days.  It's wearing on my nerves a lot so hopefully I can figure out this new program quickly so I can spend less time trying to understand and more time actually making things.  lol

She writes poems,
But they're not just words on paper.
She uses a quill,
Fashioned from broken dreams,
And her ink,
From a well of bleeding hearts.
Her inspiration,
Is drawn from shooting stars,
And her descrptions,
From sepia photographs.
She watches movies,
On Indie channels,
And only listens,
To 'underground' music.
Her favourite colour,
Is silvery grey,
And her favourite word,
Is passion.
She looks unbreakable,
But really she is made of porcelain.
She's already broken,
But she picked up her pieces.
And her glue,
Was her many enscriptions purified into one.
Her hope,
Was weaved in countless verses over time.
She passes time,
Drinking and dreaming of the past.
She never regrets;
What's done is done, after all.
She waits at the window,
And watches strangers bring themselves to ruin.
She is,
The most beautiful girl in the world,
But she hides,
Behind tinted glass and velvet curtains.
She writes poems,
But they're not just words on paper.

So some of you may have heard or even have been affected to the "snowpocalypse".  We've had snow and ice the past four or five years straight and people won't get a clue and figure out "hey, maybe this is a weather pattern and not a fluke!  Perhaps we should invest in more plows and sand trucks?"

Okay so this journal will just cement the fact I'm a total geek.  I know I don't fit the profile but I was born a geek.. trust me it's in my genes.

I literally squealed with excitement when I saw this.  I've been a Whovian from a young age.  Blame my dad. ;)  So I'm totally hooked on the new Doctor Who series and saw the preview for the Christmas special.  Steven Moffat is a freaking genius.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKG2JO… (youtube video of preview!)

So in honor of this awesome occasion I'm featuring some awesome fan art of the Eleventh Doctor here!

Okay so I was alerted to something by :iconjediprincess:  There is a guy on facebook who has stolen A LOT of artwork.  He's pretty prolific and likes dark artworks.  So if you do work in that genre check it out.  www.facebook.com/profile.php?i…;

I was thinking I would report it to facebook but apparently you can't report anything if it wasn't your stuff that was stolen.  Which really annoys me.  I look out for my fellow artists and writers on principle.  I hope they would do the same.  Please repost this and share it with others!
